Delaware Internet-based Metadata Entry System
|
DIME, the Delaware Internet-based Metadata Entry system, helps you
create and manage metadata contributions to the Delaware Spatial Data Clearinghouse.
DIME is based on the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) extensive
metadata content standards.
However, the DIME system only asks you to provide a small number of required
metadata information fields.

You may find the tutorial
on the use of DIME helpful for getting started. There are many
other
metadata authoring tools available. Before selecting one, be
sure that it produces FGDC-compliant metadata. Otherwise you will
need to do further editing of the results before submitting them to the
Delaware Spatial Data Clearinghouse.
The DIME system provides immediate feedback on your metadata's compliance
with the FGDC standards. You can preview the entry as it will appear to
others in their web-based searches. And you can then choose whether to
submit the entry for inclusion in the on-line, searchable metadatabase
of the Delaware Spatial Data Clearinghouse.
If you submit the entry, you will receive e-mail confirming when it
has been cataloged and published in the metadatabase.
This web-based tool helps you create and modify metadata information
for the Delaware Geospatial Data Clearinghouse. The system is based on
the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) metadata standards (Content
Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata). However, the Metadata Entry
System only asks you to provide a small number of required information
fields, which it then uses to produce a metadata catalog entry.
If you have problems using this tool, please send an e-mail message
to Research
Data Management Services, University of Delaware or call 302-831-DATA.
