Description

Origin is a graphics and data analysis program for scientists and engineers. It is produced by OriginLab Corp. The software is available for Microsoft™ Windows only, and includes

• Presentation-quality graphics, including 2D, 3D, contour and image graphs.

• A wide range of basic plotting templates and customizable graph templates.

• Multiple-axis and multiple-panel graphing.

• Export to EPS, JPEG, TIFF, PDF, etc.

• Basic data analysis, with routines for curve fitting, signal processing, and peak analysis.

• Programming capabilities and access to NAG function libraries.

Where to Find Origin

• The current release of Origin is version 8.0.

  The University of Delaware has an Origin site-license for its current students, faculty and staff. The Origin software may be downloaded only by them and only installed on their personal systems or on University-owned systems. The software is licensed for their exclusive use.

  Download and Install the software

  1. Download the Origin 8.0 software from UDeploy.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file (origin80.exe) to create a the folder C:\TEMP\ORIGIN80.
     
  3. Open the C:\TEMP\ORIGIN80 folder and view the "ReadMe.pdf" file. This contains the license information.
  4. Follow the installation instructions in the ReadMe.pdf file.
  5. After successfully installing ORIGIN, delete the C:\TEMP\ORIGIN80 folder and the downloaded origin80.exe file.
  6. Properly safeguard the license information.
  
  

Where Can I Use Origin on Campus?

• Origin may be available in certain departmental sites. It is installed in the Smith Classroom Computing Site (040 Smith). However, it is not currently in any other IT-managed public sites.
